I can never get the mix right I only do small mixes and don’t even get 5 mins till it’s going off Say if I do 20 mils do I do 2 drops of catalyst. Coz I’m doing 0.5 in the syringe and don’t have any time to work with it I did 50 mils before with 1 on the catalyst and then it was not going off was sticky still so I went over it with epoxy resin

I make this at industrial scale. 3% even 4% in gel coat catalyst. Also 6% pigment not 10% to much pigment as will cause catalyst to take longer to cure. Cobalt can be used to increase curing process. I also pour gel coat on and brush gel and also resin and use paddle roller to spread and pull through. Also Place film on final process and comb air for perfect result

Plaster into water, not the reverse, if you want proper consistency without the lumps. Anyway, where is the "fibreglass", as per your title? The whole process seems slapped together.

I worked in this industry for 6 months in 2019 but had to leave due to poor management. I'm now re-entering the industry and watching this video has helped me recap on everything I was doing. Absolutely fantastic. And I can't wait to get started again. It's a job I enjoy thoroughly.

How long before you coat the resin on top of the gelcoat ?

Could I ask how you would recommend making a tunnel for my steering arm to pass through? I had to cut a hole in the fibreglass to allow the steering arm to enter but although not that important as it only goes into a well, I was wanting to make a fibreglass tunnel for it but there is lots of bends and shapes that would be required for the surface part before it enters into the tunnel.
